So the story, as someone of you saw the paint on my roof started to fade, at first I put it down to a farmer spraying chemicals. So I had the top half redone is black as a fix. Alas this summer the rest of the car started to go the same way. It seems from talking to people there was a fault in the paint itself and as it got hotter and hotter the paint got worse and worse.
Sooooo I sold the Cupra R I brought and saved some cash and today I dropped my car off to the mechanics.
The plan.
Health check car…This should be fine as the engine was rebuilt not many miles back. This was confirmed when the compression read 185 across the board. However as I expected a smoke test revealed a boost leak.
1. Remove and replace all boost pipes.
2. Put new boost gauge in, repair or replace boost control.
3. Fix broken seat motor.
4. Check fuel and brake lines, replace if need be.
5. Install black carpet
6. Change fan belt
7. Install new o2
Remove engine for respray.
Then its off to the painters for full respray inc engine bay.
My aim is to have it future proofed as best as possible. Having had the engine pulled apart, every gasket changed, then a full polybush and coilover upgrade the final bits are mostly to do with the boost pipes.
